Many believe poker to be a game of luck, but Kareem Jazz has a different perspective on the game. He was born in the dirtiest hoodlums of Zaria, and he understood quite early that basing your life on chances on luck is a risk not worth taking. Even if life dealt you the worst of hand, you can still make the best of it. Kareem was born without a silver spoon, raised by a teenage mother in a broken home without a father figure. He struggled to survive every day, and he was forced to mature too quickly.
At age seven Kareem got himself involved in multiple odd jobs to make ends meet, from delivery of newspapers to working at construction sites. He made relations very easily with those he worked with who were miles ahead of him in terms of age. Kareem got introduced to the world of gambling by his workmates, at first, he had an aversion for the practice, but he later got interested when he saw how much fun the others were having.
He particularly got interested in card games especially poker, he was a sharp kid so the workings of poker and all the tricks that came with it came relatively easy to him. Kareem’s workmates saw how great he was, and they took him to go and play on bigger tables. His small stature and less refined demeanor made him look like easy prey. Kareem’s fame burned throughout Zaria and before he clocked 18 he was invited to the table of an international poker competition.
Kareem became extremely successful and popular as a professional poker player, and many still don’t believe he was the boy from the slump.
